Recycling 101 Tips

Recycling is one of the most efficient and effective methods in managing your waste that’s friendly for the environment. It’s a green approach to waste disposal that doesn’t involve ways that can harm you or the environment. Recycling things like paper, glass and tin cans is easy. But there are times when there are things that we have trouble in disposing, let alone recycling. Things like broken or aged tech, gadgets and more are difficult to dispose of without severely putting an impact to the environment or your health since these products are often harmful if disposed improperly. How can we recycle them properly? Here are just a few ways on doing so.

Old Computers

The problem with old computers is that they’re difficult to let go. Sometimes, you’ll be left thinking that you can actually try and save the old and broken computer that has aged past its prime. But when the time comes that it’s clearly unsalvageable, it’s time to move on and buy a new one. What can you do with your old computer? One of the most efficient things that tech savvy people do is strip it for parts. When a computer ceases functioning, not everything is broken. Some parts may still be in good condition. For example, taking out the hard drive and turning it into an external hard drive will give you a handy tool that can encase additional memory. It doesn’t stop there though. You can also sell the broken scraps in junkyards and earn a little cash. The old PC rig can also be used as a unique container for your knick-knacks, books and other belongings once you strip off everything.

One of the most difficult things to let go is books. That’s an undeniable fact. That’s because people have a tendency to hold on to them because of the atmosphere that they give out. However, when books start piling up and you don’t even plan on reading them, it’s time to sort them out and let go of the ones that aren’t really useful. You can donate books to your local library, school and charity so you can share the benefits of literature to others. If you don’t want to let go of your books just yet, displaying them in a unique bookshelf adds design to your house while making use of those books.

Shelves and Dressers

When you’re running out of living space because of overcrowding of your shelves and dressers, a good way to recycle them is to first take them out and check if they’re still worth the trouble. If they’re still in good condition, why not give them a new paint job. Depending on what they’re made from, you can paint them to suit your artistic taste and give them an entirely new look. If they’re too damaged already, you can take them apart, if possible, using those parts to make a brand new shelf or dresser if you’re skills in carpentry are good enough. This will allow you to save money since you’ll be getting a new furniture without having to buy one. Click here for more
